About the Role
Beam builds AI that serves society: over 120,000 frontline workers across 400+ customers use their product to take notes, provide live interpretation and handle phone calls, so they can focus on the people who need them most. The product team doubled in size in 2026, and the problems are getting harder as AI is implemented across a scaled product — so they're hiring Staff Engineers with a product mindset to set technical direction, working hybrid from their London office.
You'll drive technical direction across teams and take ownership of it for your department, build the systems that let Beam scale globally, and keep pushing how AI is used internally across product and engineering. You'll release to 100,000+ users multiple times a day in tight, AI-driven iterations, building products that shape how public services are delivered.

- You have breadth across infrastructure, backend, frontend and data
- You've proven you can evolve systems for scale
- You bring a product mindset and care about building the right thing, not just building it well
- You're genuinely excited about AI and how it's reshaping engineering
- You're open to working in their stack: the latest Ruby on Rails, TypeScript and PostgreSQL on GCP, with React and TypeScript on the client and the shadcn design system
