About the Role

Hummingbird Ventures is one of the best-performing early-stage VC firms in the world — first believers on the cap table at Lovable, Deliveroo, and a string of other companies that went on to define their industries. Their investors and talent teams work across multiple time zones, and the manual coordination between the tools they run on has become the bottleneck. This is the firm's first dedicated engineering hire, brought in to build an internal AI platform end to end. You'll connect Affinity, Gem, Granola, Google Calendar, and Claude into one coherent system, auto-populate CRM records from deal memos and meeting notes, and build meeting-intelligence workflows that pull actions and relationship context straight out of Granola transcripts.

This is a founding, high-ownership role, not a narrow one. You'll own the architecture and product direction, migrate tooling currently running in Lovable and Claude Code onto secure internal infrastructure, and build the ML layer that gives the investment team an edge — models that surface high-potential founders earlier and prediction systems for market timing, founder trajectory, and portfolio risk, drawing on a 15-year network of founders and companies. You'll work directly with the partners and operations leadership, make decisions quickly, and have juniors join beneath you as the platform grows.

What They're Looking For

• You have 5+ years building software and write strong Python across backend, automation, and AI workflows — comfortable across the full stack, not just one layer.
• You've integrated APIs across CRMs, calendar systems, and data platforms, and you're hands-on with LLMs, agents, or AI-enabled workflow systems.
• You've taken products from zero to production with limited oversight, ideally in an early-stage or high-autonomy environment.
• You're strong on backend system design and data architecture, and you can scrape and structure data from the web.
• You bring security and compliance awareness for internal systems handling sensitive data.
• You can explain what you're building to people who don't code, and you're genuinely curious about how a venture firm works — not just how to automate it.
